Patti Hixon's Fundraising Page
I'm fighting to end Alzheimer's disease in memory of my grandfather Arthur Reeves.
In 2009 a close friend asked if I was interested in playing flag football for charity - the first annual Blondes vs. Brunettes Austin game - and I eagerly signed up to support a cause that is so close to my heart. At the time of that spring game, my Grandpa Art was battling dementia, and I wanted to do anything I could to support him in his fight. Later that year when he passed away, I'll never forget the call I received from my grandma thanking me for my participation in Blondes vs. Brunettes and telling me how much it meant to her.
That call from my grandmother - and seeing the struggle my grandfather had gone through and the toll it took on my family - were the inspiration for me to continue to support the Alzheimer's Association through Blondes vs. Brunettes Austin for the next three years, and BvB created the connection for me between football and tackling Alzheimer's.
I'm proud to continue to be part of the fight to end Alzheimer's Disease and honor my grandparents, and everyone else who has been affected by this terrible disease, by raising awareness and hopefully one day finding a cure.
Thank you for your support!
